Belle Rose
This prototype retail space for an Ecuadorian distributor of roses takes over a tall 5000 sf retail space at the ground level of a downtown Chigago highrise. The designed is totally realized with a flexible, modular system of aluming columns that incorporate a variety of horizontal components (storage cabinets, shelves, worktops, disply platforms, signage), all held together by an overhead truss sytem that also provides a space from which to hang the necessary lighting. The system is all black to allow the colors of the roses themselves to be in visual focus. A mural alluding to the pre columbian nature of the exporting country is painted on the only wall in the space and provides a strong visual backdrop for the entire retail space. The project was published in a number of international design magazines and won a number of design awards for its originality.
